Update: Change in the Mississippi Virtual Public School (MVPS) Law

The amendment to the MVPS law, which was signed by Governor Bryant at the end of March 2018, states that “the provider of services under the Mississippi Virtual Public School program shall be chosen by the district using a list of vendors approved through the Mississippi Online Course Application process.” This will allow districts to choose from a menu of vendors that have been vetted by the MDE Office of Secondary Education. Pending availability of funds, districts may be reimbursed for a limited number of successful course completions. Vendors who were approved through the Mississippi Online Course Application (MOCA) process for AY2017-2018 are listed online at: http://www.mde.k12.ms.us/docs/secondary-education/moca-approved-online-courses-august-2017_20170924.pdf?sfvrsn=2 The courses that will be approved for Academic Year 2018-2019 will be released in June 2018.

If you have questions regarding the online course options, please contact Dr. Dana Bullard at dbullard@mdek12.org or Jennifer Nance at Jennifer.nance@mdek12.org. You may also call the Office of Secondary Education at 601-359-3461.
